By way of metaphor, one can describe the centre of the human experience as the being in the chest. And one can distinguish between fundamentally two different modalities, two modalities that you can experience the subject as, the subject being the self or the one that’s experiencing. In Tasawwuf we refer to one modality as nafs and the other modality as ruh.
What is to succeed in having been human, to succeed in having had a life? The worst of them measure your success only by your material accumulations. These things do not describe success.
We are entering a period or a time where the development of events is overwhelming and, particularly when one experiences a part of that overwhelming development in one’s own life, one forgets. One easily forgets that you are not being singled out. You are not being unfairly treated by Allah.
There is a naiveté that we suffer from when we think it’s up to others to give us the Divine Encounter. Understand that the only thing that helps the Divine Encounter is your own effort, and tt’s guaranteed you’re going to die. You’ll get back to Him. What’s the fuss?
